As the world mourns the passing of Pope Francis on April 21, 2025, a controversial name has once again started trending, Trisha Paytas. The internet’s favourite chaotic media personality has become the unlikely subject of a viral meme, reigniting an old conspiracy theory joke about reincarnation and her pregnancies.

Paytas, 36, is no stranger to the spotlight (or internet conspiracies). Her name exploded across social media platforms after users noticed a strange “pattern” that explains how whenever the social media star is pregnant, a major world figure passes away, supposedly to be reincarnated as her unborn child.

The start of this meme traces back to September 2022, when Queen Elizabeth II passed away just days before Trisha gave birth to her first child, Malibu Barbie. The timing led to a flood of royal reincarnation jokes online, with users suggesting that the Queen had returned as Trisha’s daughter.

Now, with Trisha expecting her third child, and the death of Pope Francis making headlines, the internet has gone full circle.

Social media users quickly revived the conspiracy, flooding X (formerly Twitter) with posts like:

  • “You’re laughing. Pope Francis is about to be reincarnated as Trisha Paytas’ baby and you’re laughing.”
  • “She’s collecting world leaders at this point.”
  • “Oh my god I just remembered Trisha Paytas is pregnant… Welcome back, Pope.”

The internet just couldn’t resist, the weirder it sounds, the quicker it spreads.

After seeing the trending posts, Trisha responded to the theories during the April 22 episode of her “Just Trish” podcast, saying: “I just don’t get it. First of all, I’m months away from my due date, not even close this time. He’s not in the British monarchy. Is it just any influential person that dies that gets to come reincarnated as my baby?”

Of course, there’s no actual evidence behind the reincarnation theory, it’s just one of those crazy moments that the internet loves to obsess over. But still, it reflects a unique blend of celebrity culture, dark humor, and the collective creativity of online communities.

As odd as it sounds, Trisha Paytas has become the face of one of the internet’s strangest, most oddly persistent memes.
