Zendaya is known for her bold, memorable outfits, and everyone seems to be talking about her 2025 Met Gala look but not for reasons you might think. The star wore a Louis Vuitton three-piece white suit, complete with a floppy hat, which has led to the re-emergence of the “Zendaya Hat Theory”.

After catching a glimpse of the look, TikTokers are suggesting that Zendaya is hiding something other than a hairdo underneath the hat.

So what is the Zendaya Theory?

Unfortunately, there is no single way to explain it, the theory is a parody of internet conspiracy.

But, the main thing you need to know is that people are vaguely suggesting that there’s a scarier, deeper meaning behind the hats previously worn by the actress and singe. Many Zendaya hat theorists pretend that their non-existent so called “evidence” makes complete sense, to purposely confuse people who want to be in on the internet joke.

When did the hat theory start?

This joke surprisingly dates all the way back to 2014, when Zendaya wore a comically large Emporio Armani hat to the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood party.

The look went viral after the internet started to joke that she was hiding something underneath.

In 2024 Zendaya acknowledged the jokes behind the iconic look, “I still see memes about this look with my hat. I stick by it, I’d wear it again.” And so she did, Zendaya’s much smaller but still comical hat fit the Met Gala theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” perfectly… and resurfacing the Zendaya Hat Theory all over again.

TikToker @thesnakesbloxx used this moment to revitalise the conspiracy for 2025, and even followed up the viral video with an “explanation” that deliberately explains nothing, but fleshes out the theory by inserting Tom Holland into the mix.

Various TikTok videos propose the idea that Zendaya’s hat is cursed or blessed, and some even suggest that the hat actually contains her fiancé Tom Holland, and uses the accessory to transport him to events where he didn’t receive an invite.

The hashtag #zendayahattheory now has 2275 videos, and the hashtag #zendayatheory has 4258 videos.

Who knows, maybe Zendaya will play along with the meme, and bring back her original big black hat for her next big event.
