What began as a close friendship on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ is speculated to have turned into much more.
The 22-year-old influencer, pop star and former Dance Moms star, Jojo Siwa, is rumoured to be romantically involved with the 32-year-old former Love Islander Chris Hughes.
From cosy airport reunions to shared vacations, here’s the rundown of everything that has happened so far between the celebrity duo.
Jojo and Chris first caught everyone’s attention during their time together in the Celebrity Big Brother House.
Their bond initially seemed platonic, while Jojo openly discussed her sexuality as a lesbian and shared that she was in a public relationship with girlfriend Kath Ebbs.
However, fans quickly noticed that Jojo and Chris’ bond grew closer through supportive conversations and even intimate moments.
Amongst the drama, one controversial housemate, Mickey Rourke was prematurely kicked off the show for inappropriate behaviour towards Jojo.
The 72-year-old Hollywood actor was accused of being homophobic, asking Siwa if she liked boys or girls.
Jojo replied “Girls. My partner is non-binary” to which Mickey then told her: “If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore.”
While Jojo assured him “I can guarantee I’ll still be gay, and I’ll still be in a very happy relationship”, the troubling situation upset Jojo to which Chris was at her side defending and comforting her.
This was only the beginning of their heartfelt moments on the show, as Chris was later caught caressing Jojo’s back in bed, and she even confided in him about her sexuality, admitting “I’m not a lesbian.”
This sent the internet into a frenzy, with Jojo receiving backlash for cheating on her girlfriend. However, this was only the beginning of the messy love affair.
At the Celebrity Big Brother wrap party, Jojo dumped girlfriend Kath Ebbs, 27, after seven months together.
Kath, the Australian content creator, took to TikTok where she shared her thoughts on the messy breakup:
“Everything that we saw transpire, the emotional cheating, the overcrossing of boundaries and questioning our relationship on national TV was not fabricated.
“It was very unsettling and very hurtful, and I did feel very betrayed by the things that I saw conspire.
“I was told that there were confused feelings there and that they had realised in the house that I wasn’t the person they wanted to spend the foreseeable future with. As you can probably tell by my demeanour this was so shocking that I feel somewhat subhuman right now.”
The video that was originally posted on Kath’s page (@kathebbss) went viral and has since been deleted.
However, with girlfriend Kath now out of the picture, fans wondered whether this would be the start of Jojo and Chris’ long-anticipated relationship.
Within the next few days, the duo were spotted sharing a pool-side kiss in an adults-only villa in Mexico.
Onlookers at the hotel told The Sun that the pair were holding hands like a giddy couple and “looked very loved-up and as they snogged in full view of other holidaymakers.”
The dynamic of their rumoured romance had fans eagerly anticipating whether the pair were official or not.
But it was not until Jojo celebrated her 22nd birthday, with Chris flying out to join in on the celebrations, that the pair took to Instagram to soft launch their relationship.
The carousel of cosy photos showed the duo cuddled up with Chris’ hand on her thigh, and Jojo posed with her head on his shoulder.
With the internet convinced that this confirmed their love affair, it was not until Jojo took to live television to deny that they were officially together.
In an interview on ITV’s Lorraine, Andi Peters referred to Chris as “your boyfriend?” to which Jojo replied amongst laughter “No, its so funny to me how straight up people get nowadays.”
In a playful Love Island reference Jojo added “Christopher and I have had a lot of chats, but we have never gone into the kitchen”
“My head isn’t turning in any way. We have never had that sort of a chat.”
Following this denial, internet users were left wondering if this truly is more than a close friendship, or whether it was all one big publicity stunt that had us all fooled.
I guess only time will tell…
