In a handwritten post on her website, Taylor Swift has shared with fans that she now owns the masters rights to all of her old music.

She said: “To say this is my greatest dream come true is a actually being pretty reserved about it.”

The singer shared that the deal includes all of her music videos, concert films, album art, and unreleased songs.

“All I’ve ever wanted was the opportunity to work hard enough to be able to one day purchase my music outright with no strings attached.”

The masters for Swift’s first six albums were previously owned by Scooter Braun, who gained the rights as part of his acquisition of Big Machine Records.

Back in 2020, Swift was offered the chance to buy the rights from Braun, on the condition she signed an NDA restricting her ability to discuss the matter. She declined, and the masters were instead sold to Shamrock Holdings, who Swift thanks specifically in her announcement for their cooperation in securing this final deal.

“I’m extremely heartened by the conversations this saga has reignited within my industry among artists and fans.”

Swift’s decision to re-record her old albums with the label “(Taylor’s version)” sparked a dialogue among artists, industry-members and fans alike, with Swift saying:

“Thank you for being curious about something that used to be thought of as too industry-centric for broad discussion. You’ll never know how much it means to me that you cared.”

Fans that have been awaiting the release of Reputation (Taylor’s version) can now enjoy all of Swift’s back-catalogue guilt-free, in the knowledge they are fully supporting their favourite artist.
